Many losses

Another caterpillar that had J hooked later in the early evening looked strange.

Do you see the gooey looking stuff hanging down? It got pretty cool this night. The outdoor temperature dropped to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

I found another caterpillar J hooked. Two days later it was still just hanging there.

18. What do you see that is out of the ordinary?

I found this caterpillar less than a foot away from the other one.

I checked on it in the afternoon and it was gone. I did not see it on the ground under the plant. Perhaps it was grabbed by a hungry bird. I bet the bird was surprised!
