Winter Brown Bundle Mystery

"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science." ~ Albert Einstein

It was a bitter cold winter day in February 2015. (-4 °F = -20.00 °C) I was bringing in firewood to keep the furnace going strong,
in our Central Pennsylvania home. I pickup up a log and saw a mysterious bundled of brown stuff was sitting in the space under the log.

Here are two pictures of the curious thing I saw.

Carefully examining the photos. Consider the time of year. Consider the place I found it.

Write your observations.

What do you hypothesize this is?

How do you think it got there?

How could we verify what this is?
