Master Spell is a great spelling drilling customizable program. Uses Speech technology and keeps a list of the last 50 misspelled words for the student. $15 fee, $10 for students. Site licenses available

The AAA Math site offers volumes of online math skills drills for free. They are grade and lesson specific. You can purchase a cd if you would prefer to run them offline.

Math Stars - This is another shareware math drill program +, -, x, and / with many customizable features including a timer for responses. Roger Clary Share ware fee $7 ind. or $50 for a school.

Addition is Fun - freeware from John Evans. Drills addition 1-9. Uses graphics to help user find the answer. JEvans5182@AOL.com

Primary Learning- presents fifteen educational exercises for children aged 6 through 14. Numerous options allow for many variations in using the programs.

Mr. Fixitup - Mr. Fixitup is a program that allows students to practice their editing skills in a fun, interesting way. Skills include editing, keyboarding, and use of technology. You can create custom lessons. Shareware $20 from Rich MacLemale

Game Show Review Game Stack - postcardware from Eric Holsen veronaemh@aol.com. This is a Hypercard stack. It allows you to create custom games which look like "Jeopardy ™". You can set the categories and the questions and answers. Use a CVLink or L-TV to put the computer screen on the TV or overhead and divide the class into teams to play. This is a fun way to review any unit. (small download 72k)

Lots of freeware for kids on Macs - Visit my Geocities neighbor Catzlover at Bry-Back Manor for freeware about dinosaurs, dollhouse play, calendars and more. Uses MacinTalk to make them playable for prereaders and nonreaders.

Text to Speech: MacinTalk and Plain Talk are speech enablers. They are available for download from the Apple web site.

CalcWorks, the premier calculator application for the Macintosh, is a complete multi-function calculator, with scientific & binary functions, definable constants & conversions, optional RPN, a basic 4-function mode, and a printable paper tape window. QuizMaker Pro lets you generate multiple choice, matching, and true/false tests which are taken using the computer. It then gives the student their score, reviews questions, and generates grades for the teacher. You can print the test and the answer sheet. Why are you still using paper?

Hot Potatoes - The suite includes six applications enabling you to create: interactive multiple-choice, short-answer, jumbled-sentence, crossword, matching/ordering and gap-fill exercises for the World Wide Web. Not freeware but free to nonprofits.

Macintosh Education Shareware - wouldn't be great if someone collected many shareware titles together? Ta Da!
